The Swiss Attorney-General office (OAG) said it will not object to former PetroSaudi International (PSI) executive Xavier Andre Justo's extradition.

Initially, the Swiss OAG revealed little about their reactions to Justo's arrest.

They declined to comment on Justo's arrest, but when asked about the Swiss national's possible extradition, they revealed that the OAG would not object to such actions.

"The OAG has no ongoing procedure against Justo, therefore the question about extradition is without objection for us," Nathalie Guth from OAG told Malaysiakini .

When pressed further as to the status of Justo ( photo ) and the allegations surrounding him, the OAG curtly replied: "We are unable to provide you with further information on this matter."

Yesterday, inspector-general of police Khalid Abu Bakar said that they might consider extraditing Justo to Malaysia, after revealing that they had submitted a request to Thai police to interrogate the suspect.

Receiving help from Swiss consular

In another development, Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA) revealed that Justo is currently receiving help under Swiss consular protection.

"The FDFA has learned of the arrest of a Swiss national (Justo) in Thailand and is in contact with the local authorities," FDFA media spokesperson George Farago said yesterday when contacted by Malaysiakini .

For reasons of privacy and data protection, Farago said that no further information can be given regarding Justo's case.

Justo was arrested last week by Thai authorities for allegedly blackmailing his former employer PetroSaudi for RM10 million.

While Thai police said their investigations in this case revolved around the alleged blackmailing , some ministers here have said that Justo's arrest shows that leaked information on 1MDB was "tampered".

These efforts by the ministers have been called out for being apparent attempts to absolve 1MDB of its wrongdoings.
