Would another raid turn Christians against BN?

Prudent: The real Christians would have already turned against Umno-BN. No need another raid. The only 'Christians' who would still support Umno-BN would be those who follow Christians for Peace and Harmony Malaysia president Wong Kim Kong.

 

Steve Oh: Did many Christians know about this latest incident? I doubt it. There are too many 'rice-bowl Christians' - many 'spiritual babes' who have yet to understand their roles in society.

 

The dearth of spirit-filled and Christ-like leaders with prophetical boldness like Issachar and his sons 'who understand the times with knowledge of what to do' is a pivotal problem.

 

Would Moses vote for Pharaoh in his day? Why would a Christian vote for anyone who represses them? It is their right but is it right to vote for someone that tries to stymie your faith?

 

Right-thinking Christians will yet save the day. But who will enlighten them, especially in the rural bastions of Sarawak and Sabah? How many of them read Malaysiakini ?

Christians are generally apolitical but when things have gotten worse, who can still afford to vote for BN?

 

Odin Tajué: It is futile to expect those Christian or native politicians in the government such as Joseph Kurup to stand up for his fellow Christians and fellow natives.

 

He wouldn't want to lose all the pelf, perks, power and prestige that he is now enjoying, would he? He will be vocal only when he is no longer a minister.

 

A good example can be seen in another Christian Sabahan native who is only now speaking against the injustice perpetrated on his kind and state. But when he was a cabinet minister a few years ago, he sided with the government.

 

Here is one example. Basically, a university law professor was reported to have said that the 18-/20-Point Agreements deprived Sabah and Sarawak of certain rights.

 

The particular minister was reported a couple of days later to have said that the matter was not important because the government leaders were aware of the ‘spirit' shared by those who agreed to form Malaysia.

 

Anyone with some sense would know that such a statement illustrates puerility and abject sycophancy. You can't see spirits; you can only see what are written in the agreements.

 

All of those who shared the particular ‘spirit' are long gone. Those who are aware of the ‘spirit' are very few in number and are about to dive six feet underground. And that includes the said politician.

 

The agreements have never been reviewed, although they are supposed to be once every 10 years, and they are unlikely to be ever.

 

So now, Sabahans and Sarawakians would be dragged to the police lock-up if they even breathed their disagreement of the said agreements. So one can ask that Sabahan former cabinet minister, where is the spirit?

 

Ah-hah!!!: "Would another raid turn Christians against BN"? Absolutely not. There have been enough times that the various Islamic agencies and assorted government officers have acted unfairly against Christians in ways which are unconstitutional. So it will not take another raid.

 

The Umno-dominated government has already alienated large numbers of right-minded Christians. (Those from Christian for Peace and Harmony Malaysia may beg to differ.) I'd say that holds true for many professing other faiths, too.

 

Anonymous_40f4: It’s called off for now because of ‘arahan dari paling atas’. It’s due to the coming Sarawak ‘buy-elections’.

 

After the election, they will raid the Bible Society of Malaysia (BSM) office. So the Christians should continue voting BN to get more of such raids.

Bible Society stands its ground, ROS backs off

 

Abasir: "There are two plausible reasons why the ROS is acting so strangely..." I do not agree.

 

There is only one reason: to warn BSM once again that the Registrar of Societies (ROS) is the enforcer of ‘Ketuanan Melayu’ and defender of Islam.

 

Headhunter: Obviously it was intended as a form of harassment for whatever their purpose was.

 

Over the years ROS has shown itself to be politically partisan in many of its decisions. BSM was right to stand their ground. Giving in would mean that others will also suffer the same fate under these little Napoleons.

 

Justine Gow: How can an inspection visit to a society become one which the visiting officer teaches the society how to use its online reporting system?

 

ROS should keep this up by visiting one by one all registered societies throughout the whole country to introduce that online reporting system, if it has nothing better to do and if it wishes to convince us that it has no ill intention against BSM.

                                                           

Middle Path: Good, stand your ground and don't be cowed by these idiots. I would like to add further, Ramadan or not is not an issue. It's right or wrong, that’s the issue.
