Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) deputy president Abang Johari Openg said the Sarawak Report blog is trying to play havoc with the leadership and politics of the country through its reports that have elements of defamation.
Abang Johari, who is also Sarawak Housing Minister, said Sarawak had also frequently been a victim of defamatory reports by the blog but was confident the people could evaluate every report to see if it was true or not.
"We are aware that Sarawak Report 's reports are questionable. The arrest of PetroSaudi International Ltd (PSI) former executive Xavier Justo has definitely given the impression that many of its reports do not have any authenticity.
"Similarly previous Sarawak Report reports on Sarawak's leadership also did not have any authenticity...so what I can say here is you just ignore whatever is reported by Sarawak Report ," he said.
The Satok assemblyman was speaking to reporters after officiating the 2015 Ihsan Ramadan programme and distributon of ‘bubur lambuk’ for the Satok constituency at SK Merpati Jepang in Kuching yesterday.
Commenting further, Abang Johari reiterated that Sarawak would continue to support Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak in facing any false allegations hurled against him.
"As a Barisan Nasional (BN) component party, we (PBB) will defend our leadership. As I said, the reports by Sarawak Report (against the Prime Minister) are defamatory and the prime minister has denied these," he said.
Meanwhile, when asked if the reports made by Sarawak Report would affect preparations for the coming state election, he was confident the people would be able to judge for themselves.
"I believe people in Sarawak know what is right and what is wrong and can analyse for themselves because it is hard to accept the reports made by Sarawak Report ," he added.
