Mara chairperson Annuar Musa met with Inspector-General of Police Khalid Abu Bakar at Bukit Aman in Kuala Lumpur today, though the purpose of the meeting was not revealed.

It is believed that the meeting was on Mara's controversial purchase of properties in Australia.

Annuar has voiced dissatisfaction over the IGP's statement that there is no criminal breach of trust in the Mara property scandal as of yet, and said he would speak to the police on the matter.

Asked by Malaysiakini whether he was there to give a police statement Annuar replied: "No. I have an appointment."

Khalid told The Star earlier today that he did not know why Annuar wanted to meet with him, but stressed that such meetings were normal.

According to Utusan Malaysia , the Mara boss arrived at Bukit Aman at 11.45am and left an hour later. He did not speak to the media.

It is believed that he may address the press later, at a breaking of fast function in Bangi, Selangor.

Mara is currently in the spotlight after Australian news reports said it overpaid RM13.7 million for a student apartment in Melbourne. The excess funds were reportedly sent back to Malaysia as kickbacks.

A businessman who was involved in the purchase, has allegedly admitted to Pandan MP Rafizi Ramli that he had profited from the deal.

However, the businessman told Rafizi, everything was “above board” and was normal business practice.
