Umno vice-president Mohd Shafie Apdal today lambasted the opposition for questioning the credibility the Special Task Force set up to investigate 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) and Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.

He said they should instead have confidence in the team to carry out its task so that the truth was unveiled.

"It is important that we allow the team to investigate, because we must adhere to the concept that the law must prevail and nobody is above the law," he told reporters after announcing the first interim dividend for participants of Felcra Berhad for this year in Mersing today.

Shafie, who is also Rural and Regional Development Minister, was asked to comment on the impudence of the opposition in questioning the credibility of the investigation of the Special Task Force on Wednesday via an online news portal.

The portal said the opposition regarded the task force as mere 'underlings' to their 'boss' who was now being investigated.

The Special Task Force is an independent committee and was approved by Parliament.

It is headed by Attorney-General Abdul Gani Patail and aided by Inspector-General of Police Khalid Abu Bakar, Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission chairperson Abu Kassim Mohamed and Bank Negara Malaysia governor Zeti Akhtar Aziz.

The dividend will benefit 65,111 participants of Felcra Berhad (Felcra) nationwide who will receive the 'raya money' totalling RM67.23 million at the latest by Wednesday.
