Tunku Ismail resigns as Johor FA president
Popular Johor Crown Prince (TMJ) Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim has resigned as Johor Football Association (JFA) president today.
He did not give any reason, The statement by JFA Honorary Secretary Mohd Fahmy Yahya on the Johor Southern Tigers Facebook page today, came as a shock to observers of the local football scene.
He is replaced by the Johor state secretary Ismail Karim, who will oversee the running of Johor football including the Johor Darul Takzim (JDT) Football Club, which was transformed from a minnow team to a league challenger in just a year, since the prince took over two years ago.
"Regardless of the change, all matters pertaining to the club such as future plans, finance management, the organisational structure, the building of the football academy and new stadium, and the association's policies will remain as it is.
"All long-term plans for the benefits of Johor football will continue to be executed," said Mohd Fahmy.
