The nomination for the MIC presidential election is expected to be held in the first week of August, while polling is expected to be held at the end of the same month.

Acting MIC president Dr S Subramaniam said the actual dates, however, had not been set as some issues at the branch level are yet to be resolved.

"We will proceed with the presidential election as soon as the elections and appeals at branch level are completed," he told reporters after chairing a post-MIC top management meeting in Kuala Lumpur today.

A total of 3,195 MIC branches nationwide had sent their nominations for the branch elections for July 10-12, with 250 forms yet to be verified.

Subramaniam said those who want to make an appeal regarding the nomination and the branch elections could submit their appeals to the party secretary-general.

"We have sent the nomination forms via Pos Laju but some members complained that they did not receive the forms, probably because they have changed their address or were not at home when the postman arrived.

"If they have valid grounds, we will give them a chance to make another nomination," he said, adding the appeal may be submitted from today until Thursday.
