Traffic congestion reported on highways out of KL

Traffic congestion was reported as at 10am on several major roads and highways to the north and south of the city as residents continued to head for their hometowns and villages to celebrate Aidilfitri or spend the holidays.

A spokesperson of the Plus Traffic Control Centre said traffic was moving slowly from Slim River to Sungkai; Bidor to Tapah; Tapah to Gopeng; the Simpang Pulai rest area to Ipoh; Jelapang to the Sungai Perak rest area; Jawi to the Sungai Bakap rest area and Bukit Tambun to Juru.

“In the south, traffic was seen moving slowly from the Tangkak rest area to the Bukit Gambir toll plaza,” he told Bernama .

A spokesperson of the Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) said traffic was heavier on the highway to the east coast, with vehicles reported to be moving slowly from Genting Sempah to Lentang.

“Traffic congestion was also reported for four kilometres on the exit road from the Kuala Terengganu toll plaza,” he said.
