Envious of Barisan Nasional (BN) leaders and the government’s success in ruling the country, some people are spreading defamatory comments about them, says Menteri Besar Ahmad Razif Abdul Rahman.

He said there were people, in and outside the country, who wanted to see the BN government fail in its efforts to help the people and nation by spreading baseless accusations.

“Some people are not happy with our (BN) success today, and if they can, they want to put an end to our efforts in attaining a developed nation status by 2020,” he added.

Ahmad Razif was speaking to reporters after presenting the 1Malaysia haj programme sponsored by 1MDB to 70 recipients from Terengganu in Kuala Nerus today.

The 1Malaysia haj programme is part of the 1MDB’s corporate social responsibility's efforts for Muslims in the country.

He said since it was started several years ago, about 1,000 Muslims were selected and sent to Mecca to perform the haj.

“We hope the quota of recipients will be increased in the future, especially from Terengganu, from 70 this year to 200 next year, through 1MDB and state government sponsorships,” he added.
