The public has once again been advised not to misuse broadband facilities provided by the government.

Deputy Communication and Multimedia Minister Jailani Johari said consumers should make good use of the facilities provided.

"Indeed, we look forward to everyone using the facilities provided by the government as well as possible, and we do not want people to use this facility by spreading rumours and making nonsensical comments on social websites.

"When this kind of abuse happens, we will wreak havoc to the country with the problems which will arise," he said after opening the Kampung Pela community hall in Kuala Terengganu.

Jailani said the ministry, through the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), would identify the misusing of the facility.

"We have identified a number of cases, whereby we have provided the infrastructure, but they are used to transmit information that is not authentic," he said.
