Kelantan Umno veterans, along with the Kelantan chapter of the Council of Former Elected Representatives (Mubarak), today condemned the action of certain media for publishing news which tried to undermine the security and interests of the nation.

Kelantan Umno veterans chairperson Rozali Isohak said the publications were seen to be attempting to topple the leadership of Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.

"We have always supported the government under the leadership of Najib and condemn the irresponsible acts by Sarawak Report , The Wall Street Journal , and The Edge .

"We believe that the statements made in the media are intended to tarnish the image of, as well as to topple the prime minister and Barisan Nasional," he told reporters at his residence in Kampung Padang Bongor in Kota Bharu, Kelantan, yesterday.

Earlier, he led a peaceful rally to condemn the three media outlets which were deemed to be out to destabilise the country.

Rozali, who is also the vice-chairperson of Kelantan Mubarak, said he would also hold briefings with Umno divisions in the state on the harm brought about by the media entities concerned.

Yesterday, the Ministry of Home Affairs suspended the publishing permits of The Edge Weekly and The Edge Financial Daily newspapers for a period of three months, beginning July 27.

In addition, the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission has also blocked access to Sarawak Report's website , because it was found to be a threat to national security.
