Hard to explain 1MDB issue at present, says KJ
Umno Youth head Khairy Jamaluddin said it is difficult to explain the 1MDB controversy to the grassroots because investigators have yet to wrap up their probes on the company.
Umno Youth head Khairy Jamaluddin said it is difficult to explain the 1MDB controversy to the grassroots because investigators have yet to wrap up their probes on the company.
He said the public must wait for the National Audit Department and Public Accounts Committee (PAC) to wrap up their probes before any detailed explanations can be made.
"We have done what we can, but what is needed now are the results of the investigations. Once they are made public, then we can have a clearer picture," said Khairy during a function at the Olympic Council of Malaysia headquarters today.
He said Umno Youth was of the position that the investigations must be expedited.
"Comprehensive explanations to the grassroots will be made once the investigations provide some certainty," he said.
Good reshuffle
On the recent cabinet reshuffle, Khairy said he was supportive of the move and that he respected the prerogative of prime minister Najib Abdul Razak ( photo ).
"It is the right of the prime minister to decide on the cabinet lineup and we hope it will be able to perform its duties well to prove to the rakyat that we fulfill our pledges.
"So we have to be positive and look forward (to) the cabinet reshuffle to bring about positive developments to the government," he said.
On the resignations of some Johor Umno Youth figures, Khairy said it was their personal decisions.
"In fact, (resignations) are not limited to Umno Youth committee members. Even former party presidents have left the party before," said Khairy, referring to Onn Jaafar and Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
