One of 10 crew members of the Singapore-registered cargo ship, MT Joaquim , which was reported missing last night and found this morning, is undergoing treatment at the Malacca Hospital for minor injuries.

State health and sports development committee chairperson Ab Rahaman Ab Karim said a preliminary examination showed that cargo officer Lim Puay Huang, 39, a Singapore citizen, did not suffer serious injuries.

Ab Rahaman said Lim arrived at the Malacca Hospital about 12.30pm today and was attended to immediately.

"Apart from minor cuts, the victim also complained of pain in the head and doctors are examining him further to detect other injuries," he told reporters in Malacca today.

Ab Rahaman said the hospital staff would also provide psychotherapy treatment for the crew members who were traumatised when the oil tanker was seized by pirates.

The MT Joaquim , laden with 3,500 metric tonnes of crude marine fuel oil worth about RM2.8 million, was found 14 nautical miles east off Pulau Rupat, Indonesia.

The ship's crew were released by the pirates but the cargo was missing.
