Kelantan Umno welcomes the plan by Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi to explain the 1MDB and the RM2.6 billion donation issues to the grassroots.

Kelantan Umno liaison chairperson Mustapa Mohamed, who is also International Trade and Industry Minister, wanted the plan to be speeded up to avoid confusion among Umno members.

“We do not want these two issues to prolong. If not, it will lead to all sorts of speculation and lies (spread by irresponsible parties),” he told reporters when met after the Aidilfitri celebration of federal departments at Wisma Persekutuan Kota Baru today.

Also present were the president and coordinating chairman of Kelab Wisma Persekutuan, Ahmad Razin Ahmad Mahir and Kelantan Federal Development Department (JPP) director, Makhtar Mustapha.

Ahmad Zahid, who is also Umno vice-president, had said he would explain the 1MDB and the RM2.6 billion donation issues to Umno members to prevent them from being influenced by incorrect information spread via the social media.

Asked whether he would be involved with the team to be established to explain the two issues to those at the grassroots level, Mustapa said he was prepared to accept that responsibility.

“As Kelantan Umno chairperson, I will be a part of this effort. I hope that the confusion can be resolved as soon as possible,” he added.
