The Human Rights Commission (Suhakam) today announced that it will be conducting investigations starting Nov 29 into the 100 ,000 People's Gathering on Kesas highway on Nov 5.

The enquiry will be conducted at Suhakam's investigation room on the 29 th floor of Menara Tun Razak in Jalan Raja Laut beginning at 9am.

Witnesses and those involved with the incident will be called according to Section 14 (1) (c) of the Suhakam Act.

"The enquiry will be conducted in the open and members of the public who plan to attedn are invited to come early as seating is limited," Suhakam said in a statement signed by its secretary Kamaruddin Mohamad Baria.

Several of those arrested, numbering 125 people, many have alleged police brutality against them while in remand, including one female detainee (photo, left) who was asked to strip naked and perform sit-ups and another man (photo, below) hospitalised due to injuries in his eyes.

The assembly numbering close to 10,000 supporters was originally scheduled to be held at the residence of a Keadilan supporter in Jalan Kebun, Shah Alam but due to police roadblocks, the supporters were forced to abandon their vehicles on the Kesas highway and they started walking towards the venue.

The supporters including BA leaders were then met with a barrage of tear gas and other chemical irritants. The police were also alleged to have confiscated the cameras of various press photographers.

Subsequently 125 participants were produced before the Klang magistrate's court and later released on police bail.
