YOURSAY Nation watching closely how he deals with Najib and 1MDB.

AG told to answer if he’s cleared Najib

Kim Quek : This new attorney-general (AG) Mohamed Apandi Ali has kept awfully silent, but make no mistake, he is capable of making big moves in silence - like disbanding the special task force.

Who gave him the authority to do so anyway, when the police reports to the home minister, MACC reports to the premier, and Bank Negara reports to the finance minister?

It is clear that only the prime minister has the authority to assemble or disband this multi-agency task force, but alas, the premier is himself the prime target of the entire hunting expedition, so can we see the nonsensical farce of the entire exercise unless the premier quits or goes on leave?

Having said that, however, there is enough power vested in MACC for it to act alone to pursue the corrupt to the very end, including a full probe on the premier, followed by a charge by the AG, if evidence uncovered so justifies.

That is why the former AG was replaced with lightning speed to avert such a scenario. (The charge sheet alleged to be a fake by the new AG is now seen as a genuine draft done by the former AG).

How will the new AG Apandi act now? Will he respond at all to Puchong MP Gobind Singh Deo’s question on Najib’s self-claimed exoneration of wrong-doing? We will see.

Clearwater : Prime Minister Najib Razak must answer three simple questions. Who donated the RM2.6 billion? Why did it go into his personal account? Where did all the money go?

Apa Ini? : The hunter has been put away - in any case, silenced. Only yes men left to read out his version of the truth. Further investigation will only give them time to refine the details.

They've taken/bought off the last honest men in Umno and government - all singing from the same sheet now. Forget about investigations.

We need to tell him he needs to go. It will take till GE14 to effect this message but we can start to voice out on the 29th. And keep voicing, so they know they are dealing with intelligent rakyat.

Anonymous #37634848 : The issue at hand is from where the premier received RM2.6 billion in his personal bank account, and why and how the money has been disbursed. It is so simple - as ‘was the RM42 billion loan to 1MDB’.

But to date, no one has focused on these issues and are trying to hide facts and confuse everyone by irrational actions and statements. For once, be accountable to this nation.

Speaking sense : C'mon, there must be at least some honest people in the government who also have the guts to say something true and do something right for a change.

Sun : When one is in power of authority, any money received should have been declared. It should be proven to have no strings attached. If it is from family members, legacy, or earnings, fine.

But Najib went silent till The Wall Street Journal exposed the bank deposits. Later he agreed indirectly that the money was in his account but was a donation. If foreigners gave him RM2.6 billion, did he sell the country, contracts or future deals to compensate?

Our currency and economy is in ruins. With the crackdown on MACC, former AG Abdul Gani Patail etc, Najib has destroyed the country.

Firestone : Gobind, this question should be directed at the ex-AG Abdul Gani Patail - if the guy is still around. If the RM2.6 billion was not for personal use, why was the account closed suddenly and the money disappeared like magic?

Even if the money is from a donor, how can it be deposited into a personal account? Where is the trust deed agreement?

Zappy-zapzap : Maybe we have two sets of laws in Malaysia - one for Umno ministers, and another for civil servants. Mr Deo Singh does not know the existence of the first set because it isn't written down, nor was it passed in Parliament. Only the premier knows about this law meant for Umnoputeras.

Even the DPM doesn't know of it. In reality, a civil servant would have been charged in court, day before yesterday or earlier.

Hang Babeuf : Why should the AG answer? Why should he answer anything or anyone? The standard and the example have been set by his boss, the premier. And the premier has made his position clear: in a general way, he considers himself accountable to the nation - but accountability does not include answering any question, or addressing any issue, that he does not feel like talking about.

Senior : Why do you think there was unholy haste to sack and replace the AG? How can MACC do their job when key officers are detained for questioning?

Rupert16 : It will not surprise anyone at all if the new AG declares Najib as clean. But whatever the outcome, Najib will not be cleared by the court of the rakyat.
