The short-lived transfers of two MACC senior officers to the Prime Minister's Department and their reinstatements, will only intensify the commission’s efforts to investigate SRC International Sdn Bhd, which is linked to the controversial 1MDB.

A source with the MACC said on condition of anonymity that it would go full steam ahead.

"There will be no more 'brakes'. The investigation will be intensified. The transfers and the reinstatements have minimal effect. We will continue with our job," said the source to Malaysiakini .

There was speculation that the investigations on SRC International and allegedly on Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak, may slow down following the controversial transfers on Friday and their surprising reinstatements yesterday, as possibly part of a deal.

But yesterday, MACC deputy chief commissioner, Mustafar Ali confirmed that the SRC International probe is on.

The ones transferred and reinstated were MACC's strategic communications director Rohaizad Yaakob and Special Operations director, Bahri Mohamad Yusof ( photo ).

It’s believed Rohaizad’s transfer was related to his receiving of opposition leaders who voiced support for MACC in its probe.

Bahri had also broke ranks in angrily pledging to find out who was behind the orders to the police to disrupt their investigation.

However yesterday chief secretary to the government Ali Hamsa, who had reinstated them, denied that their transfers were related to the 1MDB probe.

News of the transfers had received a lot of criticism. MACC No 2, deputy chief commissioner (operations) Mohd Shukri Abdul even asked the officers be returned and that he be taken in their place.

MACC panel members and two ministers have also criticised the transfers.

MACC was part of the special task force that comprised of the police and Bank Negara, and then attorney-general Abdul Gani Patail ( photo ), that was formed last month to look into 1MDB but which has since been disbanded.

It was formed following a report in The Wall Street Journal that public funds from 1MDB had entered into Najib's personal accounts in 2013 before the 13th general election.

MACC is probing SRC International regarding claims that RM4 billion was injected into it from the Pensioners Fund (KWAP). It’s also probing allegations that SRC had allegedly channeled RM42 million into Najib's personal accounts.
