The harsh criticism of Umno president Najib Abdul Razak by the Langkawi division's Wanita leader was too extreme, Kedah Umno Youth chief Saiful Hazizi Zainal Abidin said.

Saiful Hazizi expressed regret today that the division's Wanita chief, Anina Saaduddin, failed to take control of the situation to the point that the meeting turned into a free-for-all venting by the delegates.

"That action was too extreme. And even if you don't like the president's actions, there was no need to insult him in public.

"The Langkawi division Wanita chief should have taken action, controlled the situation and not let the meeting become a place to vent anger," Saiful Hazizi said when contacted by Malaysiakini last night.

Yesterday, Malaysiakini reported about a video recording of Anina's vitriolic speech against Najib having gone viral.

The Langkawi Wanita Umno leader claimed that the Umno president ( photo ) had 'lied' to all Umno members.

"Why do you lie to three million Umno members? The party president had lied to us. Don't say three million members support you. I hope the supreme council sends Najib for treatment.

"I support BN. For God, I am an Umno member. No matter what happens, I will vote for BN. I am critical because I love BN. I love Umno. Do not question my loyalty to BN and Umno.

"But you can see our president is lying to us every day. On television, he is talking nonsense," Anina had said in the speech.

Najib has said that he will not step down, for he has three million Umno members supporting him.
