DAP's online propaganda efforts against Umno are intensifying and shouldn't be taken lightly, warned Cheras Umno division head Syed Ali Alhabshee.
In a blog posting today, Syed Ali said DAP was increasingly throwing slander at Umno and its president Najib Abdul Razak.
"They are manipulating issues and launched propaganda campaigns which contain slander and parodies through social media and news portals," he said.
He said DAP's aim was to influence young voters who would make up the majority during the upcoming general election.
He added that the party's attacks on Umno was also an attempt to divert attention from their role in the undermining of PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang's leadership.
"DAP's agenda is to destroy Malay and Muslim unity in the country and cannot be taken lightly," he said.
In order to address this, Syed Ali urged all Umno members and leaders to put aside their differences and promote the party's direction to the public.
"We must show to the public what is Umno's real struggle, especially during trying times such as now," he said.
At present, he said too many Umno leaders were preoccupied with internal issues instead of addressing attacks by the opposition.
Meanwhile, Syed Ali said Najib's call for Umno members to take on the opposition online must be heeded as Umno members have not been doing enough.
"Why are we afraid of the opposition? They are clearly just spreading slander," he said.
