Mukhriz 'uncomfortable' over RM2.6b issue

Kedah Menteri Besar Mukhriz  Mahathir said he is personally uneasy and feels uncomfortable over the RM2.6 billion fund issue.

He said in this regard, the government should resolve the problem quickly with full integrity to regain the confidence of the people towards Umno.

"As the matter is in the open, I cannot say the people are not aware, not at this stage when the news is no longer localised since it has spread abroad and in foreign press...foreigners could report whatever that happened to Umno, and would want to know the affairs of Umno relating to our finance.

"Initially we denied, but when MACC came out with a report, we admit it, I do not how to answer the matter and the amount is too huge," he said when opening the Kampar Umno division delegates meeting at the RTC Banquet Hall in Gopeng today.

Focus on youths

Apart from that, Mukhriz who is also Umno supreme council member, said at the moment, members should focus fully on rejuvenating the party as the majority of the voters are from the younger generation.

He said the move was crucial to attract youth to join the struggle of Umno and ensure victory for BN at the next general election.

"Youth are leaning more to the opposition which feature vocal young leaders even though their content maybe doubtful. I am seeking to assure the continuity of the party, the veterans should teach their successors, so that they do not stray from the struggle. Teach them how we fought and allow them to choose whatever approach suitable to the current situation," he said.

Mukhriz said the people at grassroots level should ensure Umno continues to rule the country as the community will support the party if their members were committed and understand the situation they are experiencing.

"The people will also appreciate good deeds and whoever helped them, so visit the people to become their friends...this is how we can reach out to the people and ensure the winning touch," he said.
