The United People's Party (UPP) president Wong Soon Koh is confident the party will be accepted into the Barisan Nasional (BN) fold when the time is right.

He said UPP is BN-friendly and had worked closely with BN, besides having the support of Sarawak Chief Minister Adenan Satem, who is also Sarawak BN chairperson.

Wong, who is also state local government and community development minister, is also confident that UPP could win the four state seats held by the assemblypersons who had joined the party.

The four seats are Bawang Assan held by Wong, Bengoh (Dr Jerip Susil), Engkilili (Dr Johnical Rayong Ngipa), and Opar (Ranum Mina).

All the four incumbents had won the seats in the last state election on BN-Sarawak United People's Party (SUPP) tickets but had joined UPP following a leadership crisis in SUPP.
