Thirteen committee members of Bukit Katil PAS resigned today and are expected to join the Gerakan Harapan Baru (GHB).

They include its head Mohd Sofi Abdul Wahab, deputy head Mohd Ali Sharif, secretary Salamat Aman, Youth head Norkhairi Mohd Yusof, and Woman head Mahani Othman Basir.

"We cannot honestly carry out our duties as PAS leaders," Mohd Sofi told reporters in Malacca today, adding that this was due to differences in views, opinions, and strategies.

Others who resigned in a meeting last night include five PAS committee members in the district.

On Aug 4, former Malacca PAS commissioner Adly Zahari announced he would be joining GHB and is the party's coordinator in Malacca.

Meanwhile, in Shah Alam, PAS central information chief Nasruddin Hassan Tantawi said the resignations were not a serious matter as those who resigned could be replaced by new leaders.

However, he said, PAS would not view this matter lightly and would take appropriate action to resolve any internal issues.
