Selangor PAS will not compromise with Gerakan Harapan Baru (GHB), its splinter group, it it wants to vie for the seats contested by PAS candidates in the next general election.

"If they think PAS will give way to them in the next general election, PAS will not as those seats are ours," said Selangor PAS secretary, Mohd Khairuddin Othman.

He said if GHB members intended to contest in the 14th general election (GE14), it would be better for them to go for seats not contested by PAS.

"In 30 years to come, history will remind GHB as the party which gives BN victory in the 14GE and this will be the factor for the opposition's loss if there's a three-cornered contest," said Mohd Khairuddin at a news conference in Shah Alam today.

Asked why PAS did not promptly sack party members who quit their posts to join GHB, he said the PAS constitution stated that the membership would drop by itself when a PAS member joined another party.

"If they're gentlemen, they (PAS assemblypersons and parliamentarians who intend to join GHB) should vacate their seats... let the people decide."

Mohd Khairuddin claimed that GHB members were acting as though they were the spokesmen for DAP, which was against PAS' plan to implement hudud (Islamic criminal law) in Kelantan.

Yesterday, 18 Kelana Jaya PAS committee members led by its chief Izham Hashim, quit their posts to join GHB. Before this, several PAS leaders in Shah Alam, Kota Raja, Klang and Kapar had also quit their party posts.
