The High Court in Seremban today postponed to Sept 15 the bankruptcy case involving Lenggeng assemblyperson Ishak Ismail.
Judge Kamaludin Md Said fixed the date in chambers to allow Ishak to discuss with his debtor, businessman Misran Sukadi, for an out-of-court settlement.
Meanwhile, Misran’s lawyer, Francis Peter, told reporters outside the court that Ishak had paid RM1.6 million of the RM2 million loan given to him by his client.
He said Ishak was supposed to pay the remaining RM700,000 today, but was able to come up with only RM300,000.
Following this, he said the court set Sept 15 for Ishak to pay the remaining RM400,000.
Before this, the same court had allowed the suspension of the bankruptcy order against Ishak, 64, made by the court’s senior assistant registrar on March 18, after he failed to repay the RM2 million loan given by Misran.
