Najib slammed for 'bastardised' statement

Umno and only Umno made the Malays what they are - insecure and terrified to stand up for what is right. No one else can be blamed.

Swipenter: If indeed the Malays were bastardised, then Umno should take the blame since they are the self-proclaimed defender of the Malays for nearly six decades.

They have used race and religion to enslave the minds of the Malays. They have fostered a dependent and entitlement mentality in the Malays' minds.

Even now they insist that the Malays must be dependent on Umno for survival and to compete with others. That they cannot survive without Umno's largesse and protection.

They rob and weaken the Malays under the guise that they are defending and protecting them against imagined external enemies. Is there any hope for the Malays to regain their pride, integrity and independence and gain the respect of others under Umno?

Now they are openly admitting accepting RM2.6 billion from outsiders to ostensibly save the Malays from their imagined enemies.

Frank: Now that PM Najib Razak and his men and women are in precarious position, the poor Umno members are made to fear of what will happen once Umno is no longer in power.

In the first place, it is he and his men and women of power who have brought Umno and the country for the umpteenth time to their knees. But no - they are not at fault at all.

Instead, it is the poor Umno members who are now at fault for wanting him and his men and women of power to be accountable for their despicable deeds.

To Umno brothers and sisters of mine, we get the leaders we deserve. Do we really deserve these ‘hantus’ to be our leaders? May they and those who keep them in power from within and outside (you know who you are...) Umno get what they deserve from Allah - sooner rather later.

Overseas, this kind of leaders at the very least would have long lost their power.

Kingfisher: Reading Najib's characterisation of Malays as possibly being "bastardised" if Umno lost power, one is left wandering if it is a pathetic call for parochial tribalism since the present woes against governance is impinged on his own leadership of Umno and Umno's notoriety as a party whose leaders are perceived to have forsaken the just aspirations of ordinary people in pursuit of their own greed for power and wealth.

Ridiculous logic when considering that Umno has been in power since Independence and if its decline is imminent, the fault lies with Umno itself.

Umno's constant call for tribalism can only be effectively challenged if another Malay-only party with a more responsible approach towards good governance emerges.

For this purpose it would be useful for the progressive Malays in PAS and PKR to form a single Malay-only party as a rival to replace Umno. The non-Malays can form a party for the Advancement of Non-Malays in Malaysia and collaborate with progressive Malay party.

Bystander: As a Malay, I am insulted by Najib's irresponsible remark that Malay would be bastardised if it loses power in Malaysia. How could Malays be not in power?

It is we do not wish to have a tainted Malay or whatever the race he or she be to be running the country, that's all.

We have a Malay as PM since independence, a Malay as attorney-general, a Malay as inspector-general of police (IGP), a Malay as Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief, a Malay as Election Commission (EC) chief, a Malay as chief of the Armed Forces, etc, etc, etc!

Now I wonder who would actually be bastardised, Najib or the Malays if he loses power? No prizes for the correct answer.

Magnus: This is what the Financial Times (FT) says about the story of the US$700 million "donation" wired to Najib by some suspect Arab:

"Malaysia's widely lampooned prime minister is in such a deep, dark and money-stuffed hole that this is the version of events being promoted by his allies.

It goes on to say that: "If this is the positive take, the negative version is worse" and that "whether you believe the bad version of the story (donation) or the very bad version (slush fund) comes as small consolation to Malaysia."

I must add that the FT is normally circumspect and matter-of-fact in its reporting and so does not normally use colourful or flowery language such as "a deep, dark and money-stuffed hole", so Najib must have deserved their special vitriol.

GE14NOW!: This old drum has been beaten to death. When they cannot solve a problem, they divert attention from it and then turn it into a racial issue.

They know very well that this works with the Umno supporters because they have, through the years, been able to restrict their critical thinking abilities.

The thing that Umno fears most is an educated Malay base for that would spell their demise. Anyone with some decent thinking abilities will be able to see through Umno's hypocrisy.

Aries46: Najib is clearly out of line. Bad workmen blame their tools. It is he who messed up our financial system and the people's economic livelihood.

He introduced the 6% GST to cover up all his mess but cost of living shot up between 20% and 30%. He is coy about the people's suffering because he makes his 6% on the inflated cost.

Why blame others? Why should the Malays suffer or be 'bastardise' on account of the unfettered greed, abuses and obscene wealth and luxurious lifestyle of its leaders? What wrong have they done? They deserve much better.

0berserver: Sure, fine. But it will simply require the zillions of Malay civil servants to take the streets, not once but again and again and en masse, to oust Najib.

If they choose not to do that, they will again choose to be bastardised even further. From being placed on the pedestal to being trampled on by their own kind - the choice is theirs.
