Civil servants are not permitted to join Bersih 4 rally as they are bound by the General Orders, said Sarawak Chief Minister Adenan Satem.

The Chief Minister’s Office in a statement in Kuching today said this to clarify various articles that appeared on several online news portals regarding Adenan’s reply this morning to some questions about the Bersih assembly in Kuching.

“What he actually meant was that it's within civil society’s right to assemble, subject to the law,” said the statement.

Earlier this morning Adenan, when asked about the assembly said, the state government had given the green light for Bersih 4 to hold its planned assembly at the Song Kheng Hai field tomorrow, however he advised the participants to uphold the Sarawak way of doing things - smoothly and peacefully.
