Young generation should emulate Bakti's 'iron ladies', says Zahid

Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said efforts by the Association of Wives of Ministers and Deputy Ministers (Bakti) in enhancing unity among its members should be emulated by all quarters, especially the young generation.

He was referring to the annual programme of Wives of Barisan Nasional Elected representatives or PTIWRBNM 2015 organised by Bakti, which is headed by the prime minister’s wife Rosmah Mansor.

“Bakti should be emulated by the young generation or Gen Y, where its programmes should be looked at in terms of its substance or contents, like intellectual discourse, and its hidden objectives should be understood.

“The spirit that exists among members of this charitable organisation qualifies them to be called iron ladies," he said when opening the PTIWRBNM 2015 in Ipoh today.

Ahmad Zahid said the programme was a manifestation of the togetherness among the wives of elected representatives and was an idea by Rosmah.

With the various challenges facing the country now, he said, the wives of the elected representatives were also not spared and the best way for them to relieve tension was through sports and recreation.
