It is up to the respective universities to take action against students who participated in the recent Bersih 4 rally, says the higher education ministry.

Minister Idris Jusoh said today the action was in line with regulations enforced by the universities.

"It is all within the Universities (and University Colleges) Act and the universities will review and take appropriate action," he told reporters after attending the Merdeka Day celebration and talk on careers in the hospitality industry in Langkawi.

He was commenting on the involvement of university students at the two-day rally in Kuala Lumpur, Kuching, and Kota Kinabalu on Aug 29 and 30.
