The police said today they will not be able to come up with any more information today or tomorrow pertaining to the burnt car found in an oil palm plantation in Kampung Sungai Samak in Hilir Perak last Friday.

Hilir Perak Police chief ACP Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain said they would need at least a week to conduct the investigation and find out who had owned the car, and that it was too early to link the vehicle to missing Kevin Anthony Morais, the deputy head of the Trials and Appellate Division in the Attorney General’s Chambers.

“Based on the investigation, we do not expect to come up with anything today or tomorrow because more time is needed for the probe,” he told a news conference at the search and rescue operations centre at the Hutan Melintang jetty.

He said all evidence had to be sent to the Chemistry Department and the Forensic Unit for analysis.

“We are still waiting for the analysis from the Chemistry Department and the Forensic Unit,” he added.

Mohd Shuhaily said the police received assistance from the Sentul Police headquarters and Spanco Sdn Bhd, which is in the business of delivering total fleet management solutions, in the investigation into the case.

He dismissed an allegation that documents had been retrieved from the scene of the incident.

“No document was found at the scene of the incident,” he said.

Morais was reportedly last seen leaving his apartment in Menara Duta, Kuala Lumpur, last Friday for his office in Putrajaya.

He reportedly drove a grey Proton Perdana bearing registration number WA6264Q.
