Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has denied speculation that heads will roll in tomorrow's Umno supreme council meeting.

"I have not heard about any sacking. Jangan buruk sangka (don't assume the worst)," he said at a press conference in Putrajaya today.

Zahid said this when asked to reaffirm Umno Youth Chief Khairy Jamaluddin's assurance that no Umno leader will be axed tomorrow.

There is speculation that Umno deputy president Muhyiddin Yassin, vice president Shafie Apdal, and other leaders including Mukhriz Mahathir and Ahmad Said, would be given the boot during the meeting.

Zahid replaced Muhyiddin as deputy prime minister, after a cabinet reshuffle in late July.

Muhyiddin is believed to have been dropped from the cabinet after being critical of Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's brainchild 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB).

Last weekend, Pasir Salak Umno division called for Zahid to replace Muhyiddin as party number two.

Meanwhile Zahid said it is likely police will investigate the allegations made by former PetroSaudi International executive Xavier Justo in the New Straits Times.

"I have not been informed by the IGP but I'm confident it's standard operating procedure for police to open investigation papers," he said.

In the report based on Justo's confession to Thai authorities, he had named several individuals as complicit in a plot to topple the government, including DAP's Tony Pua and PKR's Nurul Izzah Anwar.
