The air quality nationwide in Malaysia has improved, with no places recording unhealthy Air Pollutant Index (API) as at 12 noon today.

According to the Department of Environment website, air quality in three areas - Malacca City, Bukit Rambai (107) and Nilai - which recorded unhealthy API readings this morning had showed moderate readings.

The latest API readings for Malacca City is 100, Muar (99), Bukit Rambai (94) and Nilai (93).

Other locations in the country recorded good or moderate API readings.

The latest readings are not available for Indera Mahkota (Kuantan), Kemaman and Kuala Terengganu.

Good air quality is recorded in places like Alor Star, Langkawi, Tanah Merah, Taiping, Tanjung Malim, Kangar, Perai, Sandakan, Limbang and Kuala Selangor.

The API reading in Kuala Lumpur is at a moderate level of between 68 and 72.

Air quality with API readings of 0-50 is categorised as good, 51-100 (moderate), 101-200 (unhealthy), 201-300 (very unhealthy) and 301 and above (hazardous). The public can visit the DOE's website at http://www.doe.gov.my to know the current API readings
