Sarawak records 2nd highest FDI in 2014
Sarawak recorded the second highest direct investment in the country last year with a total of RM9.64 billion from 18 approved projects.
Sarawak state secretary, Mohamad Morshidi Abdul Ghani, said according to Malaysian Investment Development Authority, foreign investment amounted to RM8.4 billion and the rest were from domestic sources.
He said with the current political stability, coupled with business-friendly government and efficient administration, he was optimistic Sarawak would become a major attraction for foreign investors.
“Sarawakians are well-known for its culture of racial tolerance, unity, maturity and ability to work hard towards common interest.
“Today’s conference is a manifestation of the professionalism and hard work of our local entrepreneurs,” he said at the opening of the inaugural Asean-China Entrepreneurs Conference in Kuching today.
He said the relationship between China and Malaysia has been strong with mutual respect of over four decades.
“It is always an honour to forge more engagements with China and strenghten the already healthy bond,” he said..
Fourteen high-profile speakers participated in the two-day conference, which aimed to explore business opportunities, share entrepreneurs’ experience and boost networking.
