YOURSAY ‘Dr M, Umno is rotten to the core, and the rot had actually started with you.’
Dr M: Umno can't recover in time if 'hated' Najib remains
Clever Voter:
Former PM Dr Mahathir Mohamad, such a simplistic theory is no longer valid.
The majority of voters support political parties, although in some cases individuals do make a difference. It is unlikely Umno leaders will dump PM Najib Razak as the majority are his loyalists.
Najib is not so naive. He probably expected this, and he is reaping what he has sowed. He may not have expected the shortfall in petroleum revenue, but his swift reactions were evidence of his preparedness.
He will continue to receive backing from Umno. The question is whether his internal competitors can mobilise adequate support and resources to oust him.
Najib may not be a prime minister you must have, but he has the courage and guts to take the bulls by its horns. He is merely leveraging the advantages that his predecessors have left behind.
Oh Ya?: Sorry, Mahathir, the 48 percent who still support Umno-BN in GE13 include the Filipinos and the natives of Sabah and Sarawak. That means Malay support for Umno is not as overwhelming as you think.
And the 52 percent who do not support Umno, do not hate it. They are just fed up with 57 years of racism and religious bigotry, 57 years of dictatorial and oppressive rule, and 57 years of blundering, squandering and self-enrichment.
All of them want a better country and better future for the next generation which Umno cannot provide.
Umno is rotten to the core, and the rot had actually started with you. You can change one Najib but another Najib will rise. This Umno DNA will not change so long it is in power.
Commentable: The reason why the rakyat's hatred is directed at Najib is because of the despicable tactics he used to put himself above and beyond the law.
He used and abused the machinery of the institutions to achieve his objective. By sleight of hand, he dishonestly turned the wrong things right for himself and in so doing made a mockery of our justice system.
SSDhaliwal: While we hate Najib and his wife, Rosmah Mansor, we despise Umno more. It is pointless to remove Najib only to be replaced by Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
Najib is a boon to the opposition but given that PKR has betrayed the people by joining ranks with PAS, whom many reject, it may be that the opposition's plans to claim Putrajaya may end up being wishful thinking.
Aries46: The trouble with Umno members is that they love both Umno and Najib. Umno for ‘ketuanan’ and power, Najib for the money.
They still support him because they think he has stashed the balance of the RM2.6 billion in reserve for vote buying and handouts at GE14. The country going to the dogs is of little concern to them.
Multi Racial: Dr M is consistent. He is only interested to save Umno. He is not talking about reform, free and fair elections, fight against corruption, fight against racism, etc. His only interest is for Umno to survive.
Blocking RM2.6b probe proves sum illegal, says Dr M
Odin Tajué: Yes, Mahathir, you are absolutely right. Najib has stalled and blocked all probes, and harassed the whistleblowers and the investigators. All that can only mean that the money is 1001 percent illicit.
And it is not the only sum. It is only part of the whole. There is more. Just take a look at the dubious deals, the unexplained, mysterious so-called investments, and the amounts involved, and you'll know there is more. Legacy family inheritance, my foot.
Anonymous 5783290: Stopping an investigation is an abuse of power and against the law. In 1998, former DPM Anwar Ibrahim was charged with stopping an investigation against him.
Anwar was arrested on Sept 20, 1998 for allegedly interfering with police investigations into sexual misconduct allegations made against him.
In 1999, he was sentenced to six years’ jail and was banned from holding political office until 2008.
The Pragmatist: The entire world and Malaysians have asked the same question and all knows if one is clean and good, he should already explain. Only crooks avoid giving straight answers and play games.
There is nothing new here; most people can figure it out themselves, even if they aren't vocal about it.
Dont Just Talk: It has been proven that RM2.6 billion went into Najib's personal account, which no sane prime minister in any country who has brain, would dare do it.
South Korea’s first female premier accepted US$2 million as donation in 2006 and was found guilty and jailed for two years.
Yet Umno Baru leaders are blind to the fact that what Najib has done is wrong and they are still trying to defend him, with one stupid leader claiming that he had met the Arab donor.
Multi Racial: I fully agreed with Dr M on this. If Najib has done nothing wrong, why interfere? Why the need to sack the DPM, a senior minister and the attorney-general (AG)? Why sent the police to intimidate the investigators?
All these further affirm something is very wrong.
