The ringgit opened higher against the US dollar today as more investors shifted interest towards emerging currencies, including the ringgit, dealers said.
At 9.40am, the ringgit was quoted at 4.2380/2430 against the US dollar from 4.2500/2600 yesterday.
The local note, however, was traded mostly lower against other major currencies.
It strengthened against the Singapore dollar to 3.0282/0322 from yesterday’s 3.0368/0455 but weakened against the yen to 3.5340/5397 from 3.5162/5256 yesterday.
The local unit fell against the euro to 4.8347/8408 from 4.8148/8274 yesterday and eased against the British pound to 6.5969/6059 from 6.5879/5056 previously.
