Don't do anything that will embarrass Umno again - that's the message from Prime Minister and Umno president Abdullah Ahmad Badawi to members of the Jelutong Umno division today.

Several leaders in the division were recently disciplined for involvement in money politics and Abdullah warned them not to repeat acts that can embarrass the party and the division in future.

They should be ashamed for what had happened in the division and repent because their actions had tarnished the party's good name, he was quoted by Bernama as saying in Kepala Batas after presenting Hari Raya contributions to poor people there.

The prime minister said this when asked to comment on the action taken by the Umno disciplinary committee to suspend several leaders of the Jelutong division, including its chief, Abdul Rashid Ismail, for three years for involvement in money politics.

Asked to comment on the trouble within the division whenever there is a party election, Abdullah, who is also the Penang Umno liaison chairman, said: "I hope that with this awareness, there are no more incidents that will cause action to be taken against them."

On the administration of the division, he said the party's management committee would decide on the matter to enable the Penang Umno to act to revamp the division's administration.
