In the wake of Pasir Gudang MCA Youth wing announcing it will "cut ties" with Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak, MCA president Liow Tiong Lai told party members today to express their views only through party channels.

Later in a press conference at the MCA headquarters, he said the Pasir Gudang MCA Youth will not be censured.

“The issue has been resolved. My secretary-general has issued the statement on it... No action will be taken," Liow said.

He added that MCA will continue to support the BN government and Najib ( photo ).

Liow admitted that the Youth wing had expressed the feelings of the grassroots towards the red shirt rally of Sept 16.

"The MCA central committee has decided that the party shall be consistent in its views. Racial problems in the country are getting worse, and we have to solve them.

“It has decided that all policy decisions have to be done within the party's channels.

"The case of Pasir Gudang MCA Youth has come to an end," Liow said in a statement issued after the MCA briefing for party leaders at all levels today.

Malaysiakini and The Malaysian Insider were barred from the MCA press conference.

Sept 16 rally spoilt race relations

Last Sunday, Pasir Gudang MCA Youth announced that it would cut ties with BN chairperson and Najib, following his support for Himpunan Rakyat Bersatu.

“We don’t agree with the Sept 16 rally, which has spoilt race relations. But Najib praised the rally as peaceful. Therefore, we have decided (to break ties),” its chief chief Cia Chow Hui had told Malaysiakini .

After the announcement, Umno supreme council member Nazri Abdul Aziz slammed the wing for being "stupid" to equate dissent in Umno with cutting ties with PM.

Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin even requested the wing exits from the ruling coalition for its action.
