Eight areas record unhealthy API as at 3PM

Eight areas in Johor, Pahang and Terengganu recorded unhealthy Air Pollutant Index (API) as at 3pm today.

According to the Department of Environment’s (DOE) portal, air quality in Pasir Gudang, Johor improved from 201 at 9am today to 180 API.

Unhealthy API readings were also recorded in Larkin Lama (172) and Kota Tinggi (123) in Johor.

In Pahang, Balok Baru, Kuantan recorded 153, Indera Mahkota, Kuantan (130) and Jerantut (120), while Kemaman (149) and Paka (123) in Terengganu also recorded unhealthy air quality.

Twenty-eight area recoded moderate API readings including Sri Aman (93), Banting (87), Putrajaya (76), Malacca City (73), Seremban (66) and Tanjung Malim (64) while 16 areas recorded healthy readings, especially Kota Kinabalu (47), Limbang (42), Sri Manjung (42), Seberang Jaya 2, Perai (39) and Alor Setar (23).

Meanwhile, it was reported that the hazy condition persists in Singapore, with the air quality continues to remain at hazardous level.

Today, all primary and secondary schools in Singapore are closed.

As at 10am, the 24-hour Pollutant Standard Index (PSI) ranged from 264 to 321 in hazardous range and the three-hour PSI was 256, according to the National Environment Agency.

A 24-hour PSI reading of above 100 indicates the air quality is unhealthy, PSI of between 201 and 300, very unhealthy, while PSI above 300 is hazardous.
