Police have arrested three individuals following a so-called terrorist threat at a certain location in the federal capital.

Deputy inspector-general of Police Noor Rashid Ibrahim said they comprised a local man as well as an Indonesian and a Syrian national.

Noor Rashid said all three were detained to assist in investigations.

“Bukit Aman has contacted the embassies of the United States and Australia on the security level at that particular location relating to the possibility of terrorist attacks taking place,” he told Bernama in Kuala Lumpur today.

Yesterday, the United States Embassy and Australian High Commission in Kuala Lumpur were reported to have issued a travel advisory on the possibility of terrorist attacks taking place in Jalan Alor near Bukit Bintang and its surrounding areas.

Noor Rashid reiterated that the security situation was under control and the people need not be worried about their safety.

“I have directed my personnel to be on duty at that particular location to monitor any suspicious activities,” said Noor Rashid.
