Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi refuted allegations that he was a racist and anti-Chinese as disseminated in the social media.

"When am I racist? We are all Malaysians. We need to be united as Malaysians," he said in a brief speech at the MBKS-Federation of Chinese Associations mooncake festival in Taman Sahabat, Kuching, tonight.

In this regard, he told the people not to believe accusations hurled by certain parties with bad intent against him.

Zahid said he was happy to see so many non-Chinese celebrating the moon cake festival, even though it is a Chinese community tradition.

In his speech, Zahid also reminded the Chinese community to give their strong support to Barisan Nasional (BN) in the coming state election.
