MCA is ready to take on veteran DAP leader Lim Kit Siang in the Gelang Patah parliamentary seat in the next general election, said its president Liow Tiong Lai.

The transport minister said MCA would moblise its grassroots leaders there to "battle" Kit Siang.

"What's happening (in Gelang Patah) now is that Lim (Kit Siang) is not serving his constituents at all, he keeps disappearing, so much so they have to look for him all over to voice their problems.

"Umno has agreed to give back the seat to the MCA in the next GE.

"However, we will wait to see if the 'nomad' politician who keeps changing seats for fear if he remained in one place for too long all his 'secrets' will be exposed, has the guts to defend the seat," he said.

Liow (photo) was speaking to reporters after opening the Johor MCA convention in Johor Baru today.

Also present was Minister in the Prime Minister's Department and MCA deputy president Wee Ka Siong, who is also MCA deputy president.

In the last general election, Lim defeated former Johor menteri besar Abdul Ghani Othman by a majority of 14,762 votes in the Gelang Patah seat.

Liow also said that besides Gelang Patah, Umno had also agreed to return the Wangsa Maju parliamentary seat to the MCA in the next GE.

In the last GE, MCA loaned three seats to Umno which are Gelang Patah, Wangsa Maju and Kuantan. Today we announce Gelang Patah and Wangsa Maju will be returned to MCA," he said.
