Former Malacca Chief Minister Rahim Thamby Chik apologised for his Facebook and Twitter postings claiming that Selangor crown prince Tengku Amir Shah had embraced Catholicism.
This comes after the Selangor palace lodged a police report over the matter on Monday.
“With regards to my postings on Twitter and Facebook on the matter of DYTM Raja Muda Selangor converting to Catholicism, I admit this was from an unsubstantiated website.
“I sincerely apologise for any inconveniences and distress it may have caused DYTM Raja Muda Selangor and Istana Selangor,” he
said in a pinned post
on his Facebook page.
Rumours of the prince converting out of Islam have been circulating online for several years.
The palace has denied this.
