The attack by foreign hackers against the BN Backbencher Council's (BNBBC) website was politically motivated to paralyse the nation's economy, said its deputy chairman Bung Moktar Radin today.

The vocal MP alleged there was a “big agenda” underlying the attack against the BNBBC, where its news page was defaced with insults aimed at Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.

The hacking of the BNBBC's website was the starting point of a planned massive attack by hackers against the government agencies, he told Malaysiakini .

“We are BlackCyberRoot Team. We are from Malaysia. We hate Najib. We want change,” the hackers wrote in Bahasa Malaysia on the page.

The hackers also typed "Owned by M4XS4L1M1 and BlackCyberRoot Team", reported the Malay Mail Online .

However BNBBC's news website was back to normal this evening.

Despite the hackers' hate words against Najib, Bung Moktar believed the hackers targeted Malaysia as a whole, but used Najib to divert attention.

He said the people in general would not care if the hackers criticised Najib and would not be alerted that Malaysia was under attack.

"After they showed their hatred against BNBBC, they can hate CIMB, Maybank, Finance Ministry. Maybe they are buying time or planning to issue something (against Najib). The people don't mind as they (hackers) hate Najib," he said.

"This was to divert attention," he declared, adding they disliked Malaysia's politics too.

"No, they are not aiming at the prime minister, it is Malaysia they are targeting," he further claimed.

He did not ruled out that local hackers might be in cohoots with foreign cybertroopers to paralyse the nation's economy.

The vocal Kinabatangan parliamentarian said he had warned the government before to prepare for possible hacker attacks against its agencies and ministries.

"I have my team studying this," he replied when asked how he came to such a conclusion.

"I am saddened by this, but we can blame no one. If you are weak, surely others will exploit you," he said.
