Petronas appoints two women board members
Petronas has appointed Zarinah Anwar and Sharifah Sofianny Syed Hussain as its board members with effect from Aug 17 and Oct 1, respectively.
"The diverse skills, knowledge, experience and expertise of both individuals will be invaluable to the organisation," said the national oil company in a statement today.
Zarinah, who was former chairperson of the Securities Commission, currently chairs the Malaysia Venture Capital Development Council and is a member of the Performance Management and Delivery Unit (Pemandu) Board of Trustees.
An accountant by qualification, Sharifah Sofianny began her career with Shell Malaysia, serving in auditing and accountancy roles.
In 2012, she was appointed as Maybank Investment Bhd's head of institutional equities and held various senior roles within the group.
