Former Langkawi Wanita Umno member Anina Saadudin wants a stay on Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's application for a stay of her suit against Najib on the RM2.6 billion donation.

This is until her suit against Umno secretary-general Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor challenging her expulsion from the party is heard.

Anina's lawyer Hanif Khatri Abdullah said the application was filed in the High Court in Kuala Lumpur today.

Hanif ( photo ) said the reason for this is that Najib, in his main argument ‎to strike out Anina’s suit, claimed that she is no longer an Umno member following her action to file the suit.

"Hence, let the court decide on the Tengku Adnan case first as this involves her party membership," he said after case management today before Judicial Commissioner Mohd Zaki Abdul Wahab.

Hanif said following this, the High Court will at 2.30pm on Monday give further directions on Anina's stay application.

It was reported that the court granted a stay in Anina's suit following an application by Najib, pending the Umno president's application to strike out the suit.

Anina in filing the suit last month named Najib and party executive secretary Abdul Rauf Yusoh as defendants. The Langkawi Umno member also filed an application for mareva injunction to freeze Najib's assets until the disposal of the suit.

She also filed a suit against Tengku Adnan and Abdul Rauf over her expulsion from Umno.
