BN still needs to do more to attract youths to join the ruling coalition, ahead of the 14th general election.

He said this is because most of them will be first-time voters who are not yet ready to decide which side they are on.

"From the observations of Umno and BN Youth, most of the young voters are really on the fence. This means they're not ready to make a decision," he said during a press conference in Kuala Lumpur today.

Khairy plans to turn this around, and said BN Youth has a plan to attract youth support in the next polls.

The BN and Umno Youth chief was responding to a study by the Ilham Centre which showed that no political party can claim to have the support of young voters.

Ilham Centre CEO Hisomuddin Bakar said yesterday that youth voters will be kingmakers.

"They are on the fence voters; we don't know which side they're on. They will vote rationally, and not on party strength.

"They will evaluate bigger things such as issues, sentiments, and perception," the researcher was reported as saying by Astro Awani .
