Zahid heads list of 760 Malacca award recipients

Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi heads a list of 760 recipients of Malacca state honours, in conjunction with the 77th birthday of Malacca Yang Dipertua Negeri Mohd Khalil Yaakob tomorrow.

Melaka state secretary Naim Abu Bakar said Ahmad Zahid will be conferred Malacca's highest award - the Darjah Utama Negeri Melaka (DUNM), which carries the title 'Datuk Seri Utama' at a special investiture that will be held separately at a later date.

He told a press conference here today that at that special investiture, Fadilah Abdullah, Malacca Wives of Elected Representatives' Charity and Welfare Organisation chairperson who is also the wife of the Malacca chief minister, will be conferred the Darjah Cemerlang Seri Melaka (DCSM) award. which carries the title 'Datuk Wira'.

He said International Trade and Industry Minister Mustapa Mohamed and Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Wee Ka Siong will receive the Darjah Gemilang Seri Melaka (DGSM) which carries the title 'Datuk Seri' at tomorrow's investiture.

Naim said the other recipients of the DCSM are Federal Court Judge Ahmad Maarof; Royal Malaysian Air Force chief Roslan Saad; Tabung Haji chairperson Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim; Home Ministry secretary-general Alwi Ibrahim.

Also the 3rd infantry division commander Major General Zamrose Mohd Zain; Malacca police chief Chuah Ghee Lye; Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission deputy chief commissioner (prevention) Mustafar Ali; Perbadanan Stadium Melaka chairperson Mohd Yusoff Mahadi; Media Prima chairperson Fateh Iskandar Mohamed Mansor; and Linggi Base Sdn Bhd managing director Noormustafa Kamal Yahya.

Naim also said the recipients of the Darjah Mulia Seri Melaka (DMSM) which carries the title 'Datuk' are Johor Baru High Court judicial commissioner Sabirin Jaafar; Malacca public works, public utilities, transport and restoration projects committee deputy chairperson Zaidi Atan; Malacca education, higher education, science and technology, green technology and innovation committee deputy chairperson Rawi Mahmud; Malacca information, economy, investment and industry committee deputy chairperson Sulaiman Md Ali; Malacca health, sports and anti-drug committee deputy chairperson Ng Choon Koon; Royal Malaysian Navy Human Resource assistant chief of staff Rear Admiral Anuwar Mad Said; JH Italia Sdn Bhd chairperson Wang Yen Liang; and Bank Kerjasama Rakyat Malaysia Berhad board member Abdul Rahman Kassim.

He said Xinyi Glass Holdings Limited chairperson and Manipal Education and Medical Group chief executive officer Ranjan Ramdas Pai will be conferred the honorary DMSM, which also carries the title 'Datuk'.

Eighty-five recipients will receive the Darjah Pangkuan Seri Melaka (DPSM) which also carries the title 'Datuk'. Among them are Malacca Syariah Court chief syarie Judge Mohd Radzi Abd Latif; Malacca MCA secretary Senator Koh Chin Han.

Also Malacca Umno Youth chief Senator Zali Mat Yasin; Public Service Department deputy director-general Ahmad Jailani Muhamed Yunus; Home Ministry corporate communications head Zukri Valenteno Mohd Ali.

Malacca chief minister's department deputy state secretary (development), Ismail Hamad; Royal Malaysian Navy submarine force commander Rear Admiral Abdul Rahman Ayob; Malacca works department director Khalid Omar; Kelantan deputy police chief SAC Ad Rashid Ab Wahab.

1Malaysia People's Housing chief financial officer Hasleen Isnin; Malacca Telekom Malaysia Berhad general manager Rozlan Mohamed; The Star Media Group chief editor Goh Lee Yen, and Kumpulan Berita Harian deputy group editor Badrul Hisham Othman.

A total of 60 people will receive the Darjah Seri Melaka (DSM) award; 88 the Bintang Cemerlang Melaka (BCM); 111 the Bintang Khidmat Terpuji (BKT); 227 Pingat Jasa Kebaktian (PJK); 137 Pingat Bakti Masyarakat (PBM); and 27 the Pingat Khidmat Lama (PKL).

Naim said Mohd Khalil would confer the honours in three investiture sessions, with the first session tomorrow at Dewan Seri Negeri, the second session on Saturday, and the third on Nov 14.

The first session will involve 35 recipients, the second session 373, and the third, 350.
