MIC Youth, Women chief posts won uncontested

C Sivarraajh and M Mohana both retained their positions as MIC Youth and Wanita heads respectively for the 2013-2016 term after both positions were announced to be uncontested today.

The decision was announced by election committee official SS Rajagopal after the two-hour nomination process held at the party headquarters in Kuala Lumpur closed at 1pm.

Both incumbents won when there were no nominations submitted to contest their posts.

In the last election held in 2013, Sivarraajh defeated V Mugilan in a straight fight for the 2013-2016 term to succeed T Mohan who did not defend his post.

Mohana also defeated M Vickneswari, who was secretary for the Women’s Movement, taking over from Komala Devi who also did not defend her post.

Meanwhile, M Uvaraj also won the post of Putera Head uncontested to take over from the incumbent K Raven Kumar who did not defend his post, while R Gunasundari was uncontested for the post of Puteri head.

MIC president Dr S Subramaniam was also present at the nomination process today.

The posts for all committee members for all the four wings were also not contested except that of 35 national youth delegates who will be elected on Oct 18.

The re-election for all posts was held following a directive by the Registrar of Societies (ROS) that the party had until the end of October to hold the re-election.

To date, the MIC had completed the re-election at branch levels in July and division levels last month. In the election for the president's post on Aug 21, Subramaniam won uncontested for the 2013-2016 term.
