Speculation is running wild ahead of an announcement tomorrow of an unnamed "senior" Umno leader who is expected to join PKR.

PKR in an invitation tonight said the entry of the Umno leader will be announced by PKR president Wan Azizah Wan Ismail and deputy president Azmin Ali.

The announcement is expected to take place at the PKR headquarters at 12pm.

A PKR leader in the central committee who didn't want to be named, confirmed to Malaysiakini that Saifuddin will be joining the party.

Much speculation has revolved around former Umno deputy minister Saifuddin Abdullah who is presently facing disciplinary action by Umno for attending an opposition roundtable discussion last month.

The speculation was further fuelled after a poster of Saifuddin was circulated on social media announcing that he will be joining PKR tomorrow.

The poster was shared by PKR leaders and activists including its Kuantan MP Fuziah Salleh.

The details in the poster matched the invitation issued by PKR except for the venue.

PKR secretary-general Rafizi Ramli dismissed the poster as "sabotage" to send journalists to the wrong venue but refused to confirm whether the said Umno leader is Saifuddin.

Rafizi ( photo ) when contacted was tightlipped about the matter.

"I can't confirm, I'm not in the position to say anything.

"I'm in the position to say tomorrow when there will be a press conference at 12pm by Wan Azizah," he said.

When pressed for a hint, Rafizi said the Umno leader lost in the last general election.

Saifuddin had been uncontactable since yesterday after Rafizi announced that an Umno leader will be joining PKR.

Saifuddin was defeated in the Temerloh parliamentary seat by PAS in the last general election.
