Kee’s book should be made compulsory history textbook

YOURSAY | ‘The wisdom of politicians come so thick and fast, Kee Thuan Chye may need to publish a daily journal.’

‘Unbelievably Stupid!’ shenanigans of the politicians

Turvy : The wisdom of politicians come so thick and fast, by the week, by the day, by the hours and minutes that Kee Thuan Chye may need to publish a daily journal to keep in touch. Imagine the gift to stand-up comedians.

Oh Ya?: Kee will be charged with insulting the dignity of the beloved and almighty national leaders and the inspector-general of police (IGP) who are of world-class standards.

He will also be charged under the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act or Sosma (not an abuse for it is actually a Penal Code proceeding legislated under Sosma, only the most honourable newly-minted world class towering attorney-general can understand) for insinuating that the rakyat are more stupid for electing known stupid people to lead them. It may lead to an uprising.

Kee is fortunate that he is a citizen of the world's most tolerant country. He would have been executed if he is a North Korean and detained without trial under the Internal Security Act (ISA) if he is a Singaporean, for the world's most tolerant country is also the world's most democratic that had abolished ISA.

So Kee must respect the social contract. In return for citizenship he must accept that he can be called ‘babi’ and have his holy book burnt but he cannot insult their 3M (Machinery, Media and Money) methods, not even exposing their scandals and plundering.

Ipohcrite : Kee's two books should be made compulsory reading for History classes for our young Malaysians. As they say, those who ignore history are doomed to repeat them. As such, if our youths read these books, they would not repeat such stupid nonsense as uttered and shown by these intellectually-challenged leaders.

Sleepy : We elected these people to lead us into a complex world. Are you defining the criteria (or the lack of it) to be a top government servant or politician in Malaysia?

Potato chips : To apply for membership to BN (via its pathetic component parties), the IQ level must not exceed half their age.

The Analyser : Has it ever occurred to anyone that writings like this are one of the basic reasons that unity is such an issue in Malaysia? This book proudly announces that the Chinese are far more superior than the Malays for the following reasons... see above. Only problem is, Kee, the Chinese have had sufficient opportunity to prove just how stupid they can be, too.

CQ Muar : The Analyser, nothing much or worthy commenting on your consistent sarcasm, which I deem as ‘shiok sendiri’ only. If you can't stomach or tolerate Kee Thuan Chye's writings, why did you bother to read it? Personally, I enjoyed his books, and will continue to do so.

‘The proof of the pudding is in the eating’, and if you reckon you can outclass him (Kee), or even do better, come up with something half as good, otherwise stop being a self-inflated ‘bright spark’! Period.

Just one other thing, Kee Thuan Chye is a seasoned and talented writer with his name prominently displayed, whereas you are perpetually hiding in the shadow of a pseudonym - anonymity!

Mosquitobrain : No matter how optimistic you've wanted to be, the leopard's spots will never change.

Anonymous #59879079 : Kee, I think the only smart politician is a dead politician.

It’s high time to embrace the culture of debating

Basically: In the real world, yes. But in the world's best democracy, our leaders are chosen on the basis of their warlord support and backing, not by the quality of their intellect.

That's why none of our leaders dare to debate or worse, even answer journalists questions on the fly. I guess Lim Guan Eng trouncing Chua Soi Lek on AEC’s televised debate has put the nail in the coffin for any BN leader ever engaging in debate again.

Swipenter : In Bolehland, Umno says debating is not our culture and so are street rallies. Unless the debate is a monologue coming from them, in other words ‘Do as I say and not do as I do’. Or the participants in a street rally wear red tees.

The Analyser : Debating is gentlemanly, intelligent discourse between similarly matched competitors who rely on facts to support their arguments. Just about every word in that description is contrary to life in Malaysia.

Maybe when you have a democratic government chosen by people who think about their choices you might achieve debater status. Until then, forget the idea.

Swipenter, on this occasion Umno is right. Debating is not part of Malay, Chinese nor Indian culture because all three races raise their children on the basis that you will be told what to do and there will be no questioning.

Why else do the Chinese hang on every word that comes from the pen of Anwar Ibrahim and Lim Guan Eng without a moment's thought as to its relevance or effectiveness?

Pat88 : You need to have a bit of knowledge and intelligence to go on stage for a political debate. Unfortunately, our ministers have none.

Anticonmen : When selection of leaders is based on race and not on merit, what quality of debate and leadership can we expect? That’s why BN politicians are so afraid to debate as it will reveal to the people their low calibre, twisted logic and shallow understanding of issues such as rule of law, checks and balances, independence, governance, etc. Starts with the ‘Apanama’ fellow. They need speech writers to write for them.
