A blessed nation with a cursed leadership
YOURSAY | ‘With RM2.6 billion, it is perhaps Najib who is thanking his lucky star.’
Ours is a blessed nation, says PM
Commentable:
The ordinary folk in this country (of all races) knew a long time ago that we have a blessed motherland, which we all call home.
It is PM Najib Razak and his cohorts who are trying hard to turn it into a cursed land by engaging in toxic racial politics that have the effect of ripping apart the social fabric that holds its inhabitants of different races together.
As if that wasn't bad enough, the pirates are taking turns sucking the nation dry by doing unimaginable financial somersaults to the nation's coffers in the name of investments, one of which is the so-called sovereign wealth fund, 1MDB.
Such investments will slowly but surely turn a prosperous nation into a hostile barren land, depriving its people and their future generations of the prosperity that they otherwise deserve.
With RM2.6 billion, it is perhaps Najib who is thanking his lucky star to be in a blessed nation like Bolehland, instead of slogging it out in Bugisland.
Anonymous 2289321434206704: For sure, Malaysia is a blessed nation and it’s a great nation in more ways than one. But Najib, why are the people so unhappy and feel dissatisfied with the way things are going for them? I tell you why.
Because of leaders like you who use dirty politics and engage in corruption to maintain power.
Malaysians have not known any other government but the BN. Absolute power corrupts and BN is now so corrupt that nothing can redeem it, unless there is a change in government.
If you love the country and its people, call for a fresh election and let the people decide in a clean and fair election. But I guess it’s not possible, because your corrupt cohorts will start to play the race card and stir up the religious bigots.
Every Vote Counts: Yes, Malaysia is no longer known as "the country between Singapore and Thailand".
It is now known as the most corrupt country in the world and even better known as a country whose PM can get a donation of RM2.6 billion. And a country where 'corruption' is called 'donation'.
GE14NOW!: Indeed, Malaysia is a blessed nation - the only problem is that it is cursed with a PM who is in the chief magnet for all sorts of controversies and scandals (and of course, donations) and with a governing party that is hell-bent on turning everything into a racial issue.
It is also burdened with the curse of idiots who, for their want of five minutes of fame, are willing to say and do anything to divert attention from the real issues.
Consequentially, the curses outweigh the blessings on a governmental level, although at a societal level most level-headed Malaysians are still blessed with the common sense to get along with one another.
Wg321: Najib claimed that with the aggressive promotional campaigns abroad, Malaysia is no longer known as “the country between Singapore and Thailand”.
According to the China Daily website from China, the 10 top overseas destinations chosen by Chinese tourists during their National Day holidays from Oct 1 to Oct 7, 2015 are: 1) Seoul, South Korea; 2) Hong Kong; 3) Bangkok, Thailand; 4) Phuket Island, Thailand; 5) Osaka, Japan; 6) Taipei, Taiwan; 7) Tokyo, Japan; 8) Jeju Island, South Korea; 9) Singapore; 10) Bali, Indonesia.
Most Chinese tourists skip Malaysia when they visit Thailand and Singapore. Obviously, Najib’s speech writers did not do any research when writing his speech.
Bangsat: True, we are blessed with haze, toll booths, racism and a kleptomaniac PM who is living in cuckoo land.
Anonymous 109681439536914: Najib, you are right, Malaysia, our motherland is a blessed country.
But what you omitted to say is that the country has been bastardised since 1981 by Umno Baru through abuses of public funds and our laws, as well as racial and religious discrimination by incompetent Umno Baru politicians.
Cronyism and their families have thrived. But then, you know about all that, right, Najib?
Clever Voter: Indeed, Najib knows very well about the negative perceptions of him and his government. No one disagrees that country is blessed with much resources but certainly cursed with an endless list of dishonest politicians and incompetent administrators.
It’s no point bragging about the blessed resources when you have a bloated civil service, declining quality of graduates and living standards, and poor infrastructure and governance.
The country is run by rotten self-serving individuals who are only keen to line up their pockets. The future of this blessed country sadly is in doubt.
CQ Muar: Had you discharged your responsibilities with utmost care, probably we would be celebrating all those so-called blessings.
However, ever since you helmed the nation, racism seems to be on the rise, prices on consumer goods escalate, value of ringgit has taken a plunge, corruption going unabated and the list seems endless.
This again is culminated by the 1MDB debacle, including the RM2.6 billion that ended up in your bank accounts. Hence, how can you honestly declare this land is of endless opportunities?
However, in some respect, yes, opportunities for you, your ministers and leaders to plunder.
Benghazi: Yes, so blessed is Malaysia that you, Najib, were able to convince a donor to part with RM2.6 billion, which you deposited into your private bank account.
